MURPHY PARK'S DAY FIVE IN ART UBUD (May 1st, 2009)

Today is the last day of ESP. I was really happy in the morning because today we are finally going home. In the hotel's restaurant I ate Mi Gorang, 4 sausages, 3 baked potatoes and 2 pancakes. After the delightful breakfast at the hotel's restaurant, whole group went to a house compound in Ubud which belongs to a Balinese artist who created many drawing with his unique style. His style of painting was the he first sketched using pencil, and then he completed his drawings with Chinese ink. When we finished looking at his paintings in his house compound, the whole group went to the Neka Painting Museum to see some paintings and different kinds of art in Bali and in other cultures. I didn't enjoy the tour in the museum because I'm not really that interested in art. After a tour in the Neka Painting Museum, we straight headed to the airport. We arrived at the airport about 150 minutes early but at least we were able to get good seat. The flight was delayed for a while which made me feel really frustrated. After about a 1 hour and half minutes of flight, we landed at the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport. My luggage came out the compartments fourth which made me feel not happy but also not frustrated. What an ESP!!!

MURPHY PARK'S DAY FOUR IN ART UBUD (April 30th, 2009)

Today I woke up about 06:50. I changed my cloth and headed to the hotel's restaurant to have breakfast. In the restaurant I had Nasi Gorang, 4 sausages, 3 baked potatoes and 2 pancakes. Our today's art topic was painting paddy field. In the morning, I was late for the group meeting after the breakfast because I had to go to Brain who were doing his blog in the Internet Cafe in front of our hotel to tell him that our group leaders are expecting him in the lobby right now. Our whole group were taught to use 1~5 scale which we would later use in our final painting that we did in the afternoon. The Journey was quite long and it made other people really exhausted. I really enjoyed the walk because it made me feel much better than today's morning (I was extremely tired in the morning as usual). When we finally arrived at the place where we are going to sketch the paddy field, I took pictures of the paddy field surrounding the place and I was told by Ms. Bammi to sketch using the 1~5 scaled. After about an hour and half minutes of practicing, my sketch turned out to be really nice. We went to a restaurant named "Warung Enak" after we finished sketching our paddy field. I really enjoyed having lunch in the place. After the lunch, we straight headed to the Pranto Art Studio to transfer our sketches into painting. I didn't really enjoy the experience in the Pranto Art Studio because my back really hurt when I was painting the paddy field. I was able to learn that I need to respect the work of art that artists come up with. My finalized peddy field painting turned out looking really nice. I think my concentration on doing the painting for more than 2 hours in the studio really paid off!!! On the bus after the painting lesson in the Pranto Art Studio, everyone took a vote on whether or not we would like to go shopping on the street. Not a lot of people want to shop. But our group leaders decided that we will go shopping. I just stayed in the shade for 30 minutes while other people were buying some kind of present for their families. At night, we went to eat at a very famous restaurant called Bebek Bengil. I really enjoyed the food at Babek Bengil. We headed back to the hotel after having a delightful dinner at the place. Brain and I headed back to our room as soon as we arrived at the hotel. We brushed our teeth, took a refreshing shower and directly went to sleep. Oh, I forgot to mention that we are going home tomorrow.

MURPHY PARKS' DAY THREE IN ART UBUD (April 29th, 2009)

Today I woke up at 06:00 o'clock. I changed my cloth and headed to the hotel's restaurant to have breakfast. In the restaurant I had Mi Gorang, 4 sausages, 3 baked potatoes and 2 pancakes. I really enjoyed eating breakfast at the place. Today we went to Keliki Village (This is the place where my best friend, Brain Jacobus went to during last ESP.) to do some hiking and we also went to the Bali Bird Park. It was too late when we headed from the Tjampuhan Hotel to the Keliki Village. Keliki Village is supported by Alam Sari Hotel which is owned by a man named Mr. Hugh Collette who is a 6th grade English teacher in Jakarta International School. During the hike, we didn't see any birds. However, we were able to different types of plants and trees during the hike. I really enjoyed the hike because it made me to feel much better than today's morning (I was extremely tired in the morning). My whole ESP group was given a lesson on how to draw different types of birds after we went back to Alarm Sari Hotel. At first, it was quite hard for me because it was my first experience to draw a bird. But after 50 minutes of practicing, my bird drawing skills improved a lot. We had lunch in the hotel. I really enjoyed eating lunch in the place. But it didn't seem that Brain was enjoying his meal. So, I asked him what is wrong and he told me that he is starting to have a sore throat. I felt really bad for him. We rode the bus to the Bali Bird Park where we were told to look, observe and take pictures of different species of birds after we finished our interesting activities at Alam Sari Hotel. After we finished our activities in Alam Sari Hotel, we went by the bus to the Bali Bird Park where we were told to look, observe and take pictures of different species of birds. The atmosphere of the place was very peaceful, and it was perfect place to calm sketch the bird we chose. When I first started to throw my bird sketch, I was pretty sure that the drawing would turn out looking brilliant. Well, in the end I was able to find out that I was wrong. My bird sketch turned out to terrible and unrealistic: so I wasn't really happy with the final result of my sketch. At evening time, it was free time as usual for approximately 3 hours. The whole group went to a restaurant in the main Ubud area where we had our dinner. After having delightful dinner, My ESP group headed back to the Tjampuhan Hotel. Brain and I headed back to our room as soon as we arrived at the hotel. We brushed our teeth, took a refreshing shower and directly went to sleep. Today was quite an interesting day!!!

MURPHY PARKS' DAY TWO IN ART UBUD (April 28th, 2009)

Today I woke up at 06:00 o'clock. I changed my cloth and headed to the hotel's restaurant to have breakfast. In the restaurant I had Nasi Gorang, 4 sausages, 3 baked potatoes and 2 pancakes. The Nasi Gorang was really nasty. Anyway, except the Nasi Gorang I had in the hotel's restaurant, I really enjoyed eating breakfast at the place. We all rode the bus to a ceramic studio which was owned by a Swiss lady named Susan. During the session, we were told to make two important things: a mask and a bowl (using the rotator object). It was quite an interesting experience because it was first time for me to model a mask and a bowl using the clay pieces. In the end of session, I was able to make a mask and a bowl successful even though it was my first experience as I mentioned above. Ms. Susan was helping other students with using rotator because it was a very dangerous machine for young people to use. We went to eat lunch in the main roads of Ubud after the wonderful and interesting art session with Ms. Susan. I really enjoyed the food because it was both healthy and appealing. The desert I had in the restaurant was a big problem. I thought it was the worst combination of ingredients for a dish ever. The desert was ridiculously nasty. We walked around the market to take some pictures to help us to draw sketch that we would later do after we had a delightful lunch (except the desert). Some places in the market smelled terrible. When everyone in my ESP group finished taking pictures and shopped for very expensive products, we went back to the hotel and had about 90 minutes of free time. We went to a restaurant called Lotus Cafe where we had our dinner. I really enjoyed the food and the atmosphere which we ate in. We headed back to the hotel after we had a delightful dinner. Brain and I headed back to our room as soon as we arrived at the hotel. We brushed out teeth, took a refreshing shower and directly went to bed. Today was quite an interesting day because we accomplished many tasks.

MURPHY PARKS' DAY ONE IN ART UBUD (April 27th, 2009)

I had to wake up at 04:30 today because my ESP group leaders (Ms. Bammi and Ms. Weber) said that every single member in art ubud group has to arrive at school by 06:00 o'clock and it takes more than an hour from my house to Jakarta International School (JIS). I left my house with my younger sister. My younger sister looked really happy today which made me want to ask what makes her really happy today and her answer was that she won't see her older brother who always torments her without any good reason for a week. This made me want to hit her but I didn't because today would be the last day I'm going to see my younger sister who always makes me angry by saying things that aren't actually true. After an hour had passed since my younger sister and I left home, I have finally arrived at school. I was able to see 6 people who were in my ESP group when I arrived at school. However, I wasn't able to see my best friend, Brian Jacobus. Brain arrived at school 15 minutes later. As soon as everyone in my ESP group and my group leaders arrived at school, we directly headed to Soekarno Hatta International Airport. It took about an hour and 40minutes to reach Bali. A man named Mannik was waiting for us when we came out from the airport. Our group directly headed to an organization called "Kupu-Kupu" after having a delightful lunch in a restaurant (I really enjoyed the food in the restaurant). I was able meet disabled people in the place. We introduced ourselves to the people and our group leader asked us to teach them how to speak English. I and Liban taught one of the men how to say "Aku suka main bola" in English. We headed to our hotel after staying in the place for an hour. From the experience I was able to learn that disabled people aren't different from normal people. Anyway, after we checked in to the Tjampuhan hotel we had a 90minutes free time before going to a restaurant where we had our dinner. We headed back to the hotel after we had a delightful dinner in the restaurant and Brian and I headed back to our room as soon as we arrived at our hotel. We brushed our teeth, took a refreshing shower and directly went to bed. Today was a quite interesting day!!!
